In Rememberance and the Hopes of Staring Over

We will forgive you
In time
When all the smoke has cleared
And all the damage lifted from our homes
And taken away
We will forgive you
We will forgive what you did
To our fathers, our friends
Our mothers sisters brothers uncles aunts lovers
To strangers
What you did to people we never knew
And will never meet
We will forgive you
In time
We will forgive you
When you grow older and wiser
When you know that you were wrong
When you learn to feel
We will forgive you
When we realize
That the people that you took
Are greater than this earth
Are greater than the life they lived
Are greater than the way they died
We will forgive you
When we can all hold hands
And sing prayers for those who can not sing
When we sing prayers for the penniless
For the fatherless the motherless
The orphans
When we sing prayers for the lost
Who still wander their dark hallways
And wonder
"What could I have done?"
We will forgive you
When we realize that it is okay
That the last thing we said wasn't
"I love you"
It was simply
"Goodbye"
When we realized they knew it anyway
We will forgive you
When the earth stop shaking in the tremors that you left
When the world stops burning in the fire you rained down upon us
We will forgive you
When something greater than forgiveness fills our hearts
And we know it is okay
To let all of our anger go
That the world will absorb it
And whisper quietly into our ear
"It is okay.
Let it go."
We will forgive you when the moon smiles down to us
With a thousand faces we once knew
All smiling
And telling us
That they forgive you.
